- INDIANA OPHTHALMICS -

We have a long heritage in the optical industry.  At one time we were the biggest optical laboratory in the whole Midwest!  Edward H. Schmidt and Company was the leader in the wholesale laboratory business for many years. 

As the industry began changing and contracting,  the lab was purchased by Diversified Ophthalmics and regained its fiscal stability.  With the purchase of a new building the past has been left behind and the name was changed to Indiana Ophthalmics with the lab becoming totally independent and under the ownership of Danny Lawrence and Harry Fagedes

It still has employees that have spent most of their lives in the industry and their service totals more than 300 years!!! Optical Craftsmen they are!

Now we may not be the biggest but we think our facility is the Best Lab in the Midwest.  It looks good from the outside and inside we keep our equipment and computer systems in the best of shape.

We also take very good care of our employee’s.  They love to work here and take great pride in their customer service…credo…customer is number 1 and the lab techs love the tough stuff!!!

- ILLINOIS OPTHALMICS -

Illinois Ophthalmics began operations on the 1st of August 2009 by purchasing the assets of Illmo Rx Service,Inc. Chris Hargrove remains as manager and the policies are unchanged. Illmo RX Service was established in 1956 under the ownership of John P. Gerber. At one time they had laboratories in both Decatur and St. Louis.

Illinois Ophthalmics is now a full service, VSP Contract lab, and carries most all popular lenses including Varilux. Frames from many vendors, including Zyloware,Nouveau,Detari, and A.O. Safety, Titmus are available also. The staff at the new operation are very experienced and ready to serve you! We welcome your Rx business needs.
